EMV migration project

In 2011, X INFOTECH took part in a successful project with a personalization centre in Sweden – Mega Card. For X INFOTECH, it was the first project in Sweden.

Before project implementation, Mega Card was issuing cards only with magnetic stripes. This card issuance technology needed to be upgraded to meet requirements for higher security. To comply with needs of its clients and to issue chip cards, the Personalization Centre decided to implement the EMV personalization solution.  

X INFOTECH delivered and implemented the EMV data preparation and personalization solution, which consisted of high volume machine, EMV data preparation and personalization software, Turn Key server, and an HSM. 

These card personalization systems were selected by Mega Card due to their personalization capability of 1500 cards per hour and of its quality assurance on the chips. Their modules can be easy reconfigured to meet clients` changing needs. 

The implemented EMV data preparation and personalization software includes both data preparation and chip encoding, providing the integration between card issuance software and personalization machines. 

To provide secure storage and to deliver high-speed processing for cryptographic operations and transaction speeds, an internal HSM was installed. For Proton Prisma chip platforms, personalization scripts were developed and integrated.

During the project implementation, X INFOTECH provided consulting, staff training services for Mega Card, and on-site maintenance, as well as assistance in VISA Certification. 

The project lasted for two months, and was successfully completed in July of 2011. This personalization solution allows Mega Card to issue more secure personalized cards. The implemented system can be used now and in the future to accommodate new chip card technologies.
