The conference “Payment Card Technologies”

The conference “Payment Card technologies” took place in Warsaw, Hotel Novotel Warszawa Centrum, on the 12th of October, 2011. It was organized by X InfoTech and X InfoTech Systems.

Nowadays, new threats in card and data security areas are growing fast, defining new standards to payment card technologies. Therefore, companies offering solutions for this industry must improve their technologies, offering to its customers more secure and reliable solutions.

Focusing on the theme of new payment card technologies and data security, the conference was focused on 6 major topics:

• Payment Cards products offered by Diners Club
• EMV Chip – Technologies and Trends by Trüb
• Financial Instant Issuance solution by Datacard
• Data Encryption and Control with DataSecure by SafeNet
• Payment terminals by Ingenico
• Contactless payments by Tieto

This conference was conducted by leading experts in Payment Card and Security Solutions – Diners club, Trüb, Datacard, SafeNet, Datacard, Ingenico,  X InfoTech Systems and X InfoTech.
 
By bringing together leading experts from six separate topics, the conference provided an excellent frame for the discussion about the wide variety of products and solutions for financial and government sectors, related to Payment Card technologies and Data Security.

The program included eight sessions, which were represented by presentations of X InfoTech Systems, Diners Club, Trüb, Datacard, SafeNet, Ingenico, Tieto and X InfoTech.

Andrzej Zamiecki, the member of the board of X InfoTech Systems, opened the event by short introduction about all conference presenters and highlighted the main objectives of the agenda. On behalf of the X InfoTech and X InfoTech Systems, Andrzej Zamiecki expressed the gratitude to the conference sponsors - Diners club and Trüb.      

Katarzyna Fatyga, Business Development Manager, Diners Club
Jacek Bochenek, General Manager, Diners Club Polska
In the second part of the event, Katarzyna Fatyga, Diners Club Business Development Manager and Jacek Bochenek, General Manager Diners Club Polska started their speech by introducing Diners Club company and its card products. Diners Club card products offers flexibility and security for clients and theirs purchases. All cards offered by Diners Club Polska includes: up to 59 days of deferred payment (interest-free credit); foreign travel insurance; access to VIP lounges at numerous airports all over the world; exclusive discounts at Avis and Hertz car rental chains and special Reward Programme. These cards are accepted at millions of merchants throughout 185 countries for everyday usage. The presentation was completed by company`s movie demonstrating that company`s card programs are built around popular interests such as golf, wine, travel, celebrity events, other leisure activities and everyday pleasures.

Geert Hoevenaars, Product Management Banking, Trüb AG
The third, who took the floor, was Geert Hoevenaars, product manager for Trueb's Banking Business Unit. This conference session Geert Hoevenaars started with introduction about Trüb company. This company offers innovative and secure products for banking and government sectors, provided them with high quality standards. He represented an overview of EMV market trends worldwide and a detailed look at new technologies in EMV market by presenting „CombOS”. This is the operating system for EMV-compliant, multi-functional smart card solutions, it combines the processing of debit and credit cards from both MasterCard and Visa on a single platform. Dual Interface technologies were represented by Geert Hoevenaars in CombOS Dual Interface and the most innovative card with 2 chips - CombOS Hybrid Card.

Uwe Jaspers, Director Financial Instant Issuance EMEA, Datacard
In the fourth part of the event, Uwe Jaspers, Director Financial Instant Issuance EMEA, presented Datacard® CardWizard® solution for card instant issuing. Mr. Jaspers started with overview about Datacard Group - its experience in card business is more than 40 years. Next, Uwe presented instant issuance market trends and its benefits for banks, card issuance centres, government authorities and customers. Uwe Jaspers showed the way how banks and other card issuing organizations, using Datacard® CardWizard® solution can get opportunities to make its card business more profitable, providing most advanced security and convenience of service for their clients or customers. Uwe Jaspers graphically showed how Instant Issuance works and provided real examples of instant issuance key drivers. Mr. Jaspers presented to participants innovation in the marketplace that enables banks, card issuing organizations hold own position in global market and issue cards in a way that aligns with customers` lifestyles and their buying criteria.
 

After this morning session all participants were invited to hotel restaurant for launch.

Raúl Suárez, Sales Engineer, SafeNet
After launch, in the fifth part of the conference, Raúl Suárez, SafeNet Sales Engineer, started with presentation of SafeNet, as the largest company exclusively focused on the protection of high-value information assets and its solutions, related to data protection. The topic of SafeNet presentation was Data Encryption & Control, HSMs, DataSecure and PCI-DSS. This presentation described key aspects of data security and how these solutions help organizations better secure their network environment and the data stored within.  Mr. Suárez presented the audience SafeNet Data Protection portfolio summary, describing its key benefits and functionality. At the end of presentation, Raúl Suárez showed Database Column Encryption (MS-SQL)  and DataSecure ProtectDB live demos demonstrating how SafeNet products work and store data in real time.

Jean Paul Hildebrandt, member of the board, Ingenico
The next session of the conference was dedicated to the presentation of the Ingenico payment terminals. Jean Paul Hildebrandt, Ingenico member of the board, introduced his company and products that company offers. He mentioned in the presentation, that Ingenico is the leader in secured payment with 15million POS terminals and 39% market share in a highly concentrated market. Mr. Hildebrandt demonstrated in his presentation diversity of payments terminals, which are offered by Ingenico for all the traditional sales segments (local outlets, volume retail, acquirers, networks, etc.) and all the vertical markets (transport, health, tourism, petrol, mobility, etc.). 
 

Maris Cakste, Sales manager in European region, Tieto
The final speaker of the conference was Maris Cakste, Tieto Sales manager in European region. Mr. Cakste represented to the attendees Tieto Card Suite – a suite of Payment card products, developed by Tieto, which provides the base for a wide range of payment card issuing, acquiring, switching and clearing functions, u-commerce, POI management, scoring, loyalty solution, fraud and dispute management, as well as reporting solution. Tieto`s 20 year experience in payment card business worldwide gives the opportunity to offer to company`s clients solution, that is acknowledged by industry analysts as one of the world leading international card management systems. Maris Cakste gave a deep analysis on the contactless card market and noted rapid development and extremely fast adoption of this payment area. Andris Rozentals, the chairman of the board X InfoTech closed the conference and addressed sincere thanks to all conference participants and presenters.

The Conference brought together more than 60 participants. It was attended by banks`, card issuing bureaus` and enterprises` representatives.
